    Smartphone makers are expected to increase base storage in 2026 as supply changes and on-device AI requirements reshape device configurations. Rising memory costs had earlier raised concerns about reduced specifications, but brands are instead moving towards higher capacities. Trendforce says the shift is linked to the phase-out of low-capacity memory and growing AI demands. Major companies are adopting 256GB or higher options, while 128GB storage could gradually disappear from mainstream Android smartphones by the end of 2026.
