    Google Reportedly Working on AirDrop-Like Tap to Share Feature Discovered in One UI 9, Android 17 Builds

    Android may soon introduce a tap-based file-sharing feature similar to AirDrop, aimed at simplifying transfers between devices. The feature is expected to build on Quick Share and use NFC to trigger transfers when two phones are brought close together. Reports suggest it has been tracked across multiple teardowns, with early versions seen in One UI 8.5 and newer builds in One UI 9. It may evolve from a contact-sharing system and could roll out across Android devices, with Samsung already testing similar functionality.
